Press release on the re-establishment of the list of designations of the United Nations Security Council Committee established pursuant to Resolution 1737

Field: Proliferation financing Tiếng Việt

Unofficial translation from the Vietnamese original.

On 28 September 2025, in accordance with the procedure set out in paragraphs 11 and 12 of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231 (2015)[1] (Resolution 2231), all provisions of United Nations Security Council (Security Council) Resolutions 1696 (2006), 1737 (2006), 1747 (2007), 1803 (2008), 1835 (2008) and 1929 (2010) were reapplied in the same manner as they applied before the adoption of Resolution 2231 on 20 July 2015. Accordingly, the list of designations maintained by the Security Council Committee established pursuant to Resolution 1737 (2006) (Resolution 1737) was re-established as it stood prior to the adoption of Resolution 2231 on 20 July 2015.

The list of designations of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to Resolution 1737[2] has been re-established and includes 78 entities and 43 individuals listed prior to the adoption of Resolution 2231 on 20 July 2015 (2015) in connection with the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and proliferation financing.

Consequently, the designation criteria in Recommendation 7 of the 40 Recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF)[3] and related content will also change, specifically replacing Resolution 2231 and its successor resolutions with Resolution 1737 and its successor resolutions.

Thus, the current designated list (entities and individuals designated under Resolution 1718[4] and its successor resolutions, and under Resolution 1737 and its successor resolutions) comprises 153 entities and 123 individuals.

(Resolution 1737 was adopted by the Security Council in 2006 to prevent Iran from developing nuclear and ballistic missile programmes by imposing economic and technical sanctions. Resolution 1737 requires all Member States to cease supplying sensitive materials and technology to Iran and to freeze the assets of individuals and entities directly involved in the country's nuclear activities.)[5].
