The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty was signed in Moscow on 5 August 1963, ratified by the United States Senate on 24 September 1963 and entered into force on 10 October 1963. The Treaty prohibits nuclear weapon tests “or any other nuclear explosion” in the atmosphere, in outer space and under water.
