Online Meeting with EXBS to Review Cooperation in 2021 and Discuss the 2022 Cooperation Plan

As part of the cooperation programme between the Standing Office of the National Focal Point of Vietnam for countering the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (Standing Office 81) and the US Export Control and Related Border Security Program (EXBS), on 24 March 2022 Standing Office 81, in coordination with the EXBS Program, held a meeting to discuss the planned areas of cooperation in countering the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction in Vietnam in 2022.

The meeting was attended by functional agencies and units of the Ministry of National Defence and by units of relevant ministries and sectors, such as the Vietnam Chemicals Agency/Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Department of Domestic Security/Ministry of Public Security, the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety/Ministry of Science and Technology, the Anti-Money Laundering Department/State Bank of Vietnam and the General Department of Vietnam Customs...

At the meeting, the two sides highly appreciated the results of their cooperation in 2021 and discussed the areas of cooperation planned for 2022, aimed at surveying and assessing the current state of Vietnam's legal system on countering the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, setting the direction for developing and improving the legal system in line with the international conventions and treaties on countering the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction to which Vietnam is a party, and carrying out activities to raise awareness and build capacity in countering the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction for Vietnam's focal units and frontline forces.

At the close of the meeting, the two sides agreed on the activities planned for 2022 and will continue to elaborate them and report to the competent authorities of both sides, ensuring that the activities fully meet the stated objectives and requirements./.
