On 14 December, at the 5th Annual Meeting of the ASEAN Network of Defence Experts on CBR, delegates heard expert groups present updates to the draft multinational standard operating procedure on CBR, the activities carried out in 2023 and the proposed activities for 2024. The Vietnamese delegation put forward three proposals, focusing on sending officers to practise the analysis of persistent organic compounds at Singapore's Defence Science Organisation (DSO) and on testing the multinational standard operating procedure on CBR.

On 15 December, experts from the Centres of Excellence/European Union and the Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute/United Nations presented to delegates the skills for analysing CBR disinformation and the most effective methods of refuting it. Participants practised a scenario involving disinformation about a lost radioactive source and a chemical leak at a hypothetical facility, and on that basis put forward views to counter and refute the false information.
At the close of the workshop, on behalf of the ASEAN CBR Secretariat, Dr Loke Weng Keong expressed appreciation for the contributions of the expert delegations of ASEAN countries attending the 5th Annual Meeting, as well as for their ideas for even more practical activities in 2024, serving the countering of CBR agents in ASEAN in particular and in Asia in general.
