From 23 to 27 October 2023, the 2023 High-Level Regional Conference on Export Control (MySTS) took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Officials and delegates attending the Conference
Throughout the Conference, practical programmes related to the implementation of strategic trade management (STM) were organised, comprising three main events: the Industry Outreach Seminar on Strategic Trade (IOST); the 2nd Annual Women in Strategic Trade Forum (WiST); and the 3rd Southeast Asia Forum on Export Control (SEAFEC). These aimed to:
(i) educate the business community and industry on sustainability and security in supply chain management, and promote government outreach and knowledge of efforts on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction;
(ii) encourage the empowerment of women in the field of STM through capacity building, awareness of career development and the exchange of best practices;
(iii) promote regional dialogue on harmonised STM among ASEAN countries through discussions on export control, legal frameworks and the challenges of transit and transhipment, with the aim of developing a common ASEAN policy on regional trade security.
MySTS 2023 was organised by the Strategic Trade Secretariat (STS) of Malaysia in cooperation with the Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) Program of the U.S. Department of State and the National Nuclear Security Administration of the U.S. Department of Energy. The Conference was attended by more than 600 participants from Malaysia and 30 countries around the world.
